The Social Timeline widget has it's own settings, found within the System Settings page. For an overview of what the Social Timeline is, click here

General

  • Module Name.
This is what the module/widget is called, and will change the display name on the dashboard.

  • Like Icon.
This is what icon displays for the "like" button. Click the "arrow" button to open up the full range of icons available, then copy/paste the icon name you want to use in the field. Do not copy the "fa-" part. A preview will display on the right side; if you don't see a preview, then you have used an incorrect icon name.

  • Like Text.
This is the word that displays for the "like" button. You can type whatever you want here.

  • Email Notifications.
This will either enable or disable the email notifications when a user gets tagged in a post. You may want to disable this is if you have many hundreds of users who may be tagging other users, to reduce the amount of notifications sent from the system. It is On by default.
There are no other notifications that get sent for this module/widget, only by tagging.

Permissions

  • If a Role is listed here on the permissions tab, it means they have access to see all the posts within the timeline widget.

  • A user with the Role listed can only create new posts, if the "Can Create Posts" box is ticked. Otherwise, they cannot create their own new posts, and can only like/comment on others.

  • Removing the role from the list will remove their permission to see the timeline widget on the dashboard.

  • Social Timeline widget permissions cannot be set by User Group, only Role.

FAQ's

  • Can you set permissions on posts?
No, Posts do not have permissions. Anyone who can see the timeline on the dashboard, can see all the posts inside the timeline. If you would like to hide the timeline from certain roles, reach out to Support@opcentral.com.au and we can remove the widget from dashboard for specific roles.

  • How many posts will display?
The widget will display the most recent 5 posts. After that, you can simply scroll down on the widget to see older posts.

  • Can I archive a post?
No, posts cannot be archived. They just move further down in the timeline as more posts get added.

  • How can I remove another user's post?
Only the user themself can remove a post, no one else (not even Admins). If you want to remove a post on behalf of a user, you will need to be an Admin with the "Can Imitate" other users permission, and imitate the user in question. If you do not have permission to imitate but need the post removed ASAP, just give us a call on 1800 954 145.

  • Can we moderate the posts?
No, if a user has been given permission to post, they can do so at their own will. If you are looking for a more moderated way to allow social communications on the platform, chat to support@opcentral.com.au about the Discussion Forums module (part of the People Central suite).
