Overnight on March 24th 2022, there will be an update to optimize the performance of images linked to News articles. This update will help alleviate cropping of images on different web browser screen sizes, so that moving forward, it's very easy to create new images that make your dashboard look great!
The update: Images will be force-optimised for a 5:2 ratio.
This means the new recommended size for images is anything that meets the 5:2 aspect ratio (eg 1000px by 400px). Images that meet this sizing will not be cropped or cut off when viewed on different screen sizes, and will automatically re-size to fit within the space.
This update applies to:
- Primary Image
- Featured Banner Image
What this update means for you:
- After the update, you may notice a difference in the display of your primary and featured banner images. Due to the new sizing ratio, some of your images (depending on the size originally uploaded) may not be optimised for the space anymore,
- Moving forward, we recommend you use images that are these sizes:
- Primary Image: 500px wide by 200px high (or larger, kept in the 5:2 ratio. Larger will be automatically resized to fit the space, but not cropped or cut off).
- Featured Banner Image: 1000px wide by 400px high (or larger, kept in the 5:2 ratio. Larger will be automatically resized to fit the space, but not cropped or cut off).
