You can move folders and files around within the File Manager, so that they display in the appropriate places for platform users to find easily. 

Tip: You cannot drag and drop files to move them, only folders.

 

To move a folder: 

Option 1:

  1. Open the File Manager (you may have a button in your side menu, or you can access it via Work Central and clicking on the folder icon)
     
  2. Click and hold on the folder you want to move. Drag your cursor to the position you want to move the folder to - you will see a small black arrow alongside the folder tree to indicate where you are dragging it to. 
    • If you see a red "x", it means you cannot move the folder there. 
    • If you see a green "tick", it means you can move the folder there. 
       
  3. Release your click to drop the folder where your cursor is. The folder and all it's contents will drop into the position you have chosen. 

Option 2: 

  1. When in "list" view, click the tick box next to the folder(s) you want to move. 
  2. Click the four way arrow button on the top right ("Move Selected") to pick a new location.
  3. Using the arrows on the popup box, select the location.
  4. Click "Move Here" to finish. 

Option 3: 

  1. When in "thumbnail" view, right click the folder you want to move.
  2. Click the "Move To" option in the drop down menu.
  3. Using the arrows on the popup box, select the location.
  4. Click "Move Here" to finish.

To move a file (individual):

  1. Open the File Manager (you may have a button in your side menu, or you can access it via Work Central and clicking on the folder icon)
     
  2. Click on the file you want to move. A side panel will appear on the right.
     
  3. Select the "Move File" button on the side panel.
     
  4. Choose the folder and/or subfolder that you want to move the file into, then click "Move Here".
     
  5. The file will then be removed from the original folder, and added to the chosen folder. 

 

To move a file (multiple at once):

  1. Open the File Manager (you may have a button in your side menu, or you can access it via Work Central and clicking on the folder icon)
     
  2. Open the folder that contains the files you want to move, and change the view from Thumbnail to LIST. You will know that it is list view, when the thumbnails are on the left with the full file name beside.
  3. Tick the boxes next to the files you want to move, then select the "Move Selected" button on the top right toolbar. 
    To select "all" files in the folder, use the tickbox at the top next to the "Name" column.
     
  4. Choose the folder and/or subfolder that you want to move the file into, then click "Move Here".
     
  5. The selected files will then be removed from the original folder, and added to the chosen folder.
